WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Bulldog Baseball opened the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday with a 6-3 victory over in-state rival Northeastern State at the Athletic Complex. The win improves SWOSU to 3-1 on the year ahead of Great American Conference play, which begins this weekend.
SWOSU scored two runs in both the first and second innings and added single runs in the fourth and sixth frames, which allowed the Dawgs to fend off NSU after they put up all three of their runs in the fourth and fifth frames.
Miguel Soto was 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBI while
Drew White also had an RBI.
Adam Theis had a hit and scored two runs while
Brayden Whitchurch and
Zach Baxley helped round out SWOSU's offense attack, which finished with seven hits on the day.
Cameron Spaeth got things started on the hill and allowed five hits and two runs over the first 4.0 innings before
Vance Ferraro (1-0) went the next 2.1 innings to pick up the win.
Chase Hamilton earned his first save of the season after striking out five in the final 2.2 innings to close out the game.
SWOSU returns to action this weekend with a three-game conference series against East Central scheduled to be played in Ada.
