WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU outscored Ouachita 35-22 in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit and pick up their 10th win of the season by defeating the Tigers 66-55 at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on Thursday night.
Both teams struggled offensively in the early going, but SWOSU led 13-11 after the first quarter before hitting just 6-of-14 field goals in the second quarter as they found themselves trailing 33-31 at the break. After a slow start to the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs used their defense to create offense, finishing the game with 26 points off 31 Ouachita turnovers while also getting 10 fast break points and 17 points off second-chance opportunities.
SWOSU had three players reach double figures in scoring, led by
Maddie Sperle with 13 points and
Taber Beer with 12.
Makyra Tramble provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, five rebounds and three steals while
Lauren Ramey knocked down 2-of-5 field goal attempts and 3-of-4 free throws to total nine points in addition to two rebounds.
Tyra Aska was two points shy of a double-double with eight points and 10 boards and
Bethany Franks had another balanced stat line with four points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists.
SWOSU improves to 10-3 on the year with the win and 5-2 in Great American Conference play heading into a showdown against Henderson State on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
