WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Henderson State opened the second half on a 13-1 run and SWOSU was unable to recover as the Reddies defeated the Bulldogs 92-74 on Saturday at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
After trailing by as many as 13 points in the first half, the Bulldogs rallied to tie the score twice in the final minutes of the half before HSU hit a late three-pointer to lead 47-44 at the break. The Reddies then broke it open with their run early in the second half and held a double-digit advantage for the final 17-plus minutes of the game.
Damion Thornton was one rebound away from a double-double, totaling 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.
Jaylan Williams added 11 points and six rebounds while
Chris Braggs, Jr., had 10 points, four rebounds and four steals.
SWOSU sees their two-game win streak snapped and their record evens back out at 7-7 overall while they move to 3-5 in conference play. The Bulldogs are back at home on Thursday night to host Northwestern Oklahoma State in rivalry action.
