HAYWARD, Calif. – Sandra Nabweteme scored two goals in less than three minutes to lead SWOSU Soccer to a 2-1 victory over Holy Names on Sunday that allowed the Bulldogs to split their weekend road trip to California.
SWOSU, now 3-3 on the year, has alternated wins and losses in all six games this season, a trend they will look to snap on Friday evening when they host Northwestern Oklahoma State to open Great American Conference play.
The game went to intermission scoreless despite nine shot attempts from the Dawgs and five by Holy Names. SWOSU upped the offensive pressure in the second half and got 15 shot attempts – including nine on goal. Nabweteme broke through the scoring barrier in the 74th minute and added a second goal just two minutes later to make it 2-0. The Dawgs were on the verge of a second clean sheet of the season until HNU found the back of the net in the match's final minute.
Nabweteme led the charge for SWOSU with nine shot attempts and both goals, while five other players recorded at least two shot attempts.
Kirstyn Dill made four saves and allowed one goal in the victory.
