Early Goals Lead to Road Setback for Soccer

LUBBOCK, Texas – SWOSU Soccer held Lubbock Christian scoreless for the final 81 minutes of action, but they were unable to overcome an early two-goal deficit and fell to the Lady Chaps 2-1 on Saturday in Lubbock.

LCU struck twice in the first nine minutes to take control from the outset and they held SWOSU to just three shots in the first half as they took the 2-0 lead to the break. SWOSU's lone scoring play came in the 69th minute as Sandra Nabweteme converted on a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season, which cut the Lady Chaps advantage in half.

SWOSU continued to force the issue in the second half, getting 10 shots off, with five of those being on goal. LCU finished the match with 21 shots and seven shots on goal.

SWOSU (1-2) will now return to Weatherford to host Midwestern State on Tuesday afternoon in the Bulldogs' home opener. That match is set to begin at 4:00 pm from the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
