SEARCY, Ark. – SWOSU Baseball scored three runs in the first three innings of Saturday's series finale at Harding, but the Bisons put four runs on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning and took the game by a score of 8-3.
With the win, Harding takes the series 2-1 and the Bulldogs move to 16-18 on the year and even their record at 12-12 in Great American Conference play. SWOSU returns home for four games next week, including a Tuesday midweek contest against USAO and a three-game set against Oklahoma Baptist for Senior Weekend on Friday-Saturday.
Alex Bedard led off the game with a triple and scored on a wild pitch to put SWOSU on the board first, but Harding quickly answered with single runs in the first and second innings to take a 2-1 lead.
Alex Pimentel came through with an RBI single in the top of the third and Bedard scored off an error by Harding to put the Dawgs up 3-2.
That lead would last until the Bisons scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead before breaking the game open with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to put the game away.
Bedard was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple to his credit along with two runs scored. Pimentel,
Tanner Long and
Chase Duncan added two hits apiece while
Robert Perea also had one hit and scored a run.
Cooper Cantwell (4-4) was the pitcher of record after allowing four runs on 10 hits over 6.0 innings of action.
