WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball was roughed up for 14 runs over the final four innings as Oklahoma Baptist claimed a 16-8 victory on Monday in the final game of a three-game conference series played at the Athletic Complex.
SWOSU scored first with an RBI single from
Alex Pimentel in the first inning and tied the game at 2-2 when Pimentel had a sac fly to bring home
Rafael Villela in the third.
Alex Bedard homered in the fourth, putting SWOSU back in the lead before OBU had their offensive explosion that included two runs in the sixth, four in the seventh, seven in the eighth and two in the ninth.
The Bulldogs got two hits apiece from
Robert Perea,
Chase Duncan, Bedard and Pimentel, who had two RBI to lead the Dawgs in the game.
Sawyer Toole hit a two-run home run, his third of the season, in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Gabe Jacobo pitched admirably for 5.0 innings, allowing five hits and two runs before giving way to
Brant Millerborg (1-4), who took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in the top of the sixth.
SWOSU, now 18-20 on the year and 14-13 in GAC play, returns to action on Friday-Saturday with a three-game series against Southern Nazarene in Bethany.
