Bulldog Softball Sweeps #1 SAU to Completes Series Victory

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - SWOSU Softball defeated the top-ranked team in the nation twice on Saturday to complete a 3-1 series victory over the #1 Muleriders.

SWOSU's bats started off strong Saturday afternoon. Samantha Householder, Miranda Grover, Allyson Gafford all contributed combining for three hits in the first inning putting the Lady Dawgs on top early in the game. In the fourth inning, Samantha Householder smashed a three-run home run to add to the Lady Dawgs lead. SWOSU's defense was solid all through the game only allowing the Muleriders with 5 hits and no errors.
 
Miranda Grover pitched a complete-game shutout, holding SAU's high-powered offense to just five hits and allowing one walk.

The Lady Dawgs continued their offensive explosion in the second game of the day, with Amanda Moreno got the momentum going by hitting a deep ball to left center sending in Householder, Donaldson, and Gafford to score which put the dawgs on the board and in the lead.
 
Dawgs never lost the lead, continuing to keep the bats going as Miranda Grover started the 3rd inning with a single up the middle and Sidney Kirk smashed a line drive to left center and Hannah Franklin finished the inning with a homerun to give SWOSU a five-run lead over the Muleriders. Hannah Morris scored on a wild pitch, which extended the Bulldogs lead to 8-6 in the bottom of the sixth and SWOSU retired the Muleriders in order to finish the game in the seventh.
 
Kaytlin Donaldson picked up the win, allowing six runs on five hits in the first 5.1 innings before Alisa Friesen pitched the final 1.2 innings for the save.
