Softball Starts with Split Against Reddies

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Softball played a pair of low-scoring games with Henderson State on Thursday, splitting a series-opening doubleheader at the Athletic Complex in Weatherford.
 
SWOSU (9-18, 8-10 GAC) and HSU will conclude the series with another doubleheader on Friday beginning at noon.

With two runs in both the third and fourth innings, HSU was able to hold off the Dawgs in the first game, with SWOSU putting single runs on the board in the first, third and fifth innings. SWOSU was held to four hits in the game, with Hannah Morris finishing 2-for-4 with one run scored, while Amanda Moreno scored the other two.
 
Kaytlin Donaldson (5-9) tossed a complete game, allowing four runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

A sacrifice fly from Samantha Householder scored Morris to put SWOSU up 1-0 in the first and Allyson Gafford slammed a leadoff home run in the top of the fifth as an insurance run as the Dawgs evened up the series with a shutout in the second game.
 
Alisa Friesen (2-7) picked up the win, allowing five hits and one walk with one strikeout in 5.2 innings before giving way to Donaldson, who retired all but one batter faced as she picked up her third save of the season.
