Baseball Splits on Saturday against Ouachita

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball earned a doubleheader split on Saturday with Ouachita, allowing the Tigers to win the three-game Great American Conference series 2-1. SWOSU is now 12-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
 
Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, March 19, for a single game against Oklahoma Baptist University starting at 2:00 pm at the Athletic Complex in Weatherford.
 
 
Game 1: SWOSU 10, Ouachita 9
 
After coming off of a loss on Friday night for the first game of the series, the Bulldogs answered with a 10-9 victory against the Tigers in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday. SWOSU scored runs in five of the nine innings, four of which came alone in the fourth.
 
The Bulldogs had a total of 15 hits and zero errors to conclude the game. Hitting for the Bulldogs came from a variety of players in the lineup. Alex Bedard and Rafael Villela both lead the team in hits with three apiece while Bedard also scored three runs. Alex Pimentel earned three RBI off of two hits, while Chris Cloud and Brooks Red added two RBI off of one single hit.
 
Early in the first inning, Pimentel tripled on a center field hit which allowed Bedard to score the first run of the game. In the third inning, Alex Bedard earned a double after hitting a line drive through the left side which gave him position to score off of a sac fly hit by Pimentel. The four of ten runs the bulldogs earned came in the fourth which started with Chris Cloud hitting a double to center field allowing two more runs to be brought in. Bedard and Pimentel both hit sac flies to allow two more runs to be scored in that inning. To finish out the game, Brooks Red came in as a pinch hitter, hitting a deep ball to right field off of one pitch brining home two runs to win the game.
 
Throughout the game, the Bulldogs had three different pitching changes. The starting pitcher for SWOSU was Tyler Tuck who pitched six innings. Gabe Jacobo relieved Tuck in the top of the seventh inning, pitching 2.1 innings. During the ninth inning, Haden Branch came in to pitch to finish out the game.
 
Game 2: Ouachita Baptist 7, SWOSU 5
 
The Bulldogs last attempt to take game 3 of the series was no effort for the Tigers offense. Both SWOSU and Ouachita totaled four hits in the final inning, however the Bulldogs couldn't capitalize on their slow start.
 
Alex Bedard led the Dawgs with two hits while Amex Pimentel, Rafeal Villela, Tyler Benge each had an RBI a piece.  To start off the seventh inning, Braden Estraca came into pinch hit and hits an in the park home run off a fielding error by Ouachita's short stop leading to two runs being brought in. Pimental singles to left field and scores in Burtner, while, Veillea hits a sac fly to bring in Bedard.
