WICHITA FALLS, Texas – SWOSU Softball began their 2019 season on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Midwestern State, but the Dawgs were upended in both ends of the twinbill as they open the season 0-2.
SWOSU heads to Edmond this weekend, where they will play five games at the UCO/OC Tournament on Friday-Sunday.

After falling behind 6-1 after three innings, the Bulldog rallied for four runs in the final three innings before the game ended on a groundout with the bases loaded. SWOSU drew nine walks in the game, including four in the bottom of the seventh to put runners in scoring position and push one across.
The Bulldogs finished with four hits in the game, including a solo home run from
Allyson Gafford in the second inning. Gafford finished 1-for-2 with two RBI after adding a sac fly in the seventh.
Hannah Morris,
Kaytlin Donaldson and
Samantha Householder also had hits in the game while Householder and
Saige Vandiver accounted for the other two RBI.
Donaldson (0-1) tossed a complete game, allowing seven hits and just one earned run with six SWOSU errors leading to the other five runs for MSU.

The Bulldogs were in prime position to get their first win in the night cap after Householder hit a bases-clearing triple with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, putting her team on top 6-5. Two walks by SWOSU led to a pair of two-run home runs in the bottom half of the inning, which proved to be the difference as MSU held on for the three-run victory.
SWOSU had six hits in the game, half of them off the bat of Gafford, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Householder had three RBI on her lone hit while
Ashtyn McAdoo was 1-for-2 with a two-run single in the fourth inning and one run scored.
Alisa Friesen (0-1) was steady for most of the game, but was unable to get the final out in the sixth inning to complete the game. She allowed nine runs on 10 hits, but walked five with three strikeouts in her first collegiate game.
