WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Damion Thornton scored a career-best 29 points against Southern Nazarene on Saturday, but the Crimson Storm prevailed 86-72 thanks to 55.8% shooting from the field inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
The Bulldogs trailed by 10, 43-33, at halftime but they were hit by an onslaught to open the second half as SNU hit eight straight field goals to build a 63-38 advantage with 16:05 to play. SWOSU fought valiantly to get back into the game, but they were unable to get any closer than 11 on multiple occasions. The Crimson Storm hit 58.3% (14-24) of their field goals in the second half – including eight three-pointers – while SWOSU also shot it well at 55.6% (15-27) despite only connecting on 1-of-6 three-pointers after halftime.
Thornton's career game was offset by SNU's duo of Jhonathan Dunn and Micah Speight, who combined for 49 points to lead the Crimson Storm.

Anthony Love also reached double figures for SWOSU, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.
SWOSU (5-4, 1-2 GAC) returns to action next Saturday (Dec. 14) at Oklahoma Baptist, their first of three consecutive road games before playing back at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center on January 9th.
