Nabweteme Sets Scoring Record in SWOSU Victory over SNU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Sandra Nabweteme scored three goals on Thursday, leading Bulldog Soccer past Southern Nazarene 4-0 while also surpassing the SWOSU and Great American Conference records for goal with 76 for her career.

SWOSU struck almost immediately as Nabweteme found Brenna McGuirk open in front of the net for a goal less than one minute into the game before she scored two goals of her own – including the record-breaker – in the next 10 minutes. With a lead of 3-0 less than 11 minutes in, the Bulldogs continued on the attack and had 19 shots in the first half and nine on goal, but the lead would stay at three heading to the break.

Nabweteme completed her hat trick midway through the second half as she scored her third goal of the match off an assist from McGuirk in the 68th minute. She overtakes the school and conference record for goals scored from former teammate Alimata Rabo, who had 74 goals as a Bulldog from 2016-18.

The victory puts the Bulldogs (11-4-2, 8-1-2 GAC) back into first place in the Great American Conference standings with one match remaining in the regular season. That matchup takes place on Saturday at 11:00 am against Oklahoma Baptist and could be a winner-take-all match for the conference championship if OBU records a victory on Thursday evening at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Senior Day festivities to honor the Bulldogs three seniors – Nabweteme, Hannah Burks & Alexis Fowler – will take place prior to kickoff against OBU on Saturday.
