WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Great American Conference Championship Tournament is returning to the SWOSU Athletic Complex for the fourth time – first since 2016 – and will be hosted by SWOSU on Thursday-Saturday.
 
SWOSU earned the right to host the tournament after claiming the 2019 GAC Regular Season Championship on Saturday following a scoreless draw against Oklahoma Baptist. With the tie, SWOSU finished the regular season with a record of 8-1-3 in GAC play and 27 points, two ahead of Ouachita and Oklahoma Baptist, who will meet in Thursday's first semifinal. Harding earns the fourth seed in the tournament and will be the Bulldogs opening-round opponent.
 
The Bulldogs previously hosted the tournament in 2012, 2013 and 2016, winning the first two before falling in penalty kicks against Harding in 2016. SWOSU has won three GAC Tournaments overall, most recently in 2017 with a 3-2 win over Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee. The winner of the GAC Tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II National Tournament, which SWOSU has qualified for on two occasions – 2012 and 2017.
 
On Sunday, the game times were announced for the tournament and are as follows:
 
Semifinal #1 – Thursday, November 14, 11:00 am: (2) Ouachita vs. (3) Oklahoma Baptist
Semifinal #2 – Thursday, November 14, 2:00 pm: (1) SWOSU vs. (4) Harding
Championship – Saturday, November 16, 11:00 am: Semifinal Winners
 
Both semifinal contests will be broadcast live on Coyote TV with play-by-play commentary from 'Voice of the Bulldogs' Stephen McTeer and live stats will also be available through SWOSUAthletics.com.
