WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball could not sustain the momentum of a first-set win as Oklahoma Baptist rallied to win three straight and defeat the Dawgs on Thursday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
SWOSU started strong and forced OBU into eight hitting errors in the first set, but the Lady Bison got more efficient as the match went along and took advantage of several unforced errors by SWOSU, including 13 service errors, as they made their comeback. The Bulldogs hit .130 for the match with 23 hitting errors while OBU attacked at a .206 clip with 18 attack errors.
SWOSU was led by their middle hitter duo of
Sofia Gruden and
Brylee Burroughs, who combined for 24 kills while committing just five attack errors.
Maicee Morgan had nine kills and
Jenny Tackett added seven.
Allie Hoang was good for a double-double of 40 assists and 17 digs and
Kaitlyn Dillon led the Dawgs with 25 digs.
The loss ends SWOSU's seven-match conference win streak and drops the Bulldogs two games behind OBU in the league standings, where they are now tied with Northwestern Oklahoma State for second place. The Dawgs are back at home on Friday night to face Southeastern Oklahoma State at 6:00 pm.
