HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – SWOSU Soccer and Ouachita played to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night in a match that was moved to Hot Springs due to field conditions in Arkadelphia.
The two teams entered the contest holding down the top two spots in the Great American Conference standings and they'll leave it in second and third place after Oklahoma Baptist defeated East Central 6-0 on Thursday to move back into first.
SWOSU had an advantage of 23-15 in shots and 9-8 in shots on goal and the Dawgs got on the board first as
Brianna Benitez scored her third goal of the season just over midway through the first half. The score would remain in the Bulldogs favor until the final 10 minutes of regulation, when Ouachita tied it up and forced overtime.
In the extra frames, Ouachita got two shots on goal while SWOSU had one attempt saved and the game ended as a draw. Bulldog goalie
Kirstyn Dill finished with seven saves in the contest.
SWOSU, now 9-4-2 on the year and 6-1-2 in conference play, returns to action on Saturday morning at 11:00 am in Searcy, Ark., taking on Harding.
