WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball team was unable to hold off the hot shooting of Arkansas Tech, who knocked down 20 three-point field goals in a 103-92 victory over the Bulldogs on Thursday night at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
SWOSU seemed to be in complete control early, building a lead of 34-19 on a three-pointer by
Tre Evans with 7:46 to play in the first half. Following the play, however, Evans was assessed a technical foul which jumpstarted a 9-0 run for the Wonder Boys, who would eventually pull even and tie the game at 45-all heading to halftime.
The Bulldogs built a quick six-point lead early in the second half, but Arkansas Tech hit four three-pointers over a four-minute stretch to turn a 64-59 deficit into a 75-69 lead with 9:02 to play. A three-pointer from
Daniel Eibel got the Dawgs within one, 85-84, with 3:19 to play, but they were unable to get any closer and Arkansas Tech extended their lead down the stretch at the free throw line.
Tre Evans paved the way for SWOSU as he flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 34 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
Cheikh Fall (19 points) and
Daniel Eibel (17 points) each set new career-highs in the game and
Nick Shoemaker added 11 points and four assists while hitting 3-of-8 attempts from long range.
SWOSU (3-14, 0-11 GAC) returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Harding at 1:00 pm inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
