WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Softball team ended the 2018 season in dramatic fashion, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up a Saturday split with Arkansas Tech on Senior Day at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
With the victory, the Bulldogs conclude the year 13-38, but they failed to secure a berth in the Great American Conference Tournament with a 13-28 league record.

Saturday's opener was tied 1-1 after three innings, but Arkansas Tech put 11 runs on the board in the final three frames to invoke the run-rule at the conclusion of the sixth inning. SWOSU got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth, including a solo home run from
Samantha Householder, but it was far from enough for the Dawgs to get back into the game.
Rileigh Ricken (5-17) took the loss in her final collegiate pitching appearance after allowing 12 runs on 14 hits with four strikeouts.

A pitcher's duel broke out in the series finale, with both teams combining for just 10 hits with no runs being scored until the sixth inning. Arkansas Tech broke the scoreless tie in the top of the sixth with an RBI double, but the damage was limited after
Miranda Grover got the final two outs of the inning with runners in scoring position.
Hannah Morris and
Amanda Moreno led off the bottom of the inning with singles and moved into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt from
Kinsey Skroh. After
Sidney Kirk was walked to load the bases,
Allyson Gafford hit a ball up the middle that got Kirk out at second but allowed Morris to score and tie the game. Householder then stepped to the dish and singled into right field, scoring Moreno for the go-ahead run.
Grover (6-8) sat the Golden Suns down in order in the top of the seventh to cap off the victory. She pitched a complete game and gave up just five hits and one run with two walks and a strikeout.
