Softball Falls to ECU on Friday

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Softball went winless on Friday afternoon in their home conference opener after dropping both ends of the day one doubleheader with East Central by scores of 14-2 and 8-3.

The Bulldogs will conclude the series tomorrow afternoon where they will continue to seek their first win of the season.

Game One
ECU 14, SWOSU 2
Box Score (html)

An RBI double from Jacquelyn Lovelace in the third inning had SWOSU in business tied 1-1 with ECU, followed by a sac fly off of the bat of Samantha Householder to give the Dawgs their only lead of the game.

It was the Tigers who scored the game's next 13 runs though, including six runs in both the fourth and seventh innings to put the game away.

Sidney Kirk (L, 0-6) pitched 3.2 innings and suffered the loss, despite all seven of her runs being unearned on the day. The offense managed six hits with no player posting more than one hit in the game.

Game Two
ECU 8, SWOSU 3
Box Score (html)

SWOSU again jumped out to an early lead in game two after plating a pair of runs in the first inning. RBI hits from Sidney Kirk and Paige Bowler had SWOSU with early momentum, but ECU scored the next eight runs before the Dawgs could finally answer in the seventh inning.

In the seventh inning trailing 8-1, Kinsey Skroh drove in a run on a single up the middle to wake the Bulldog side of the scoreboard back up – but it was far too late as SWOSU stranded a pair of runners after the last out was made.

Bowler had a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-2 with her RBI as SWOSU again tallied six hits in the contest for the second consecutive game.

Kaytlin Donaldson (L, 0-2) got her second start of the season and went the distance, allowing all eight runs (six earned) while striking out one and walking two.
