Erica Brunet and Sandra Nabweteme Selected to Academic All-America Team

Austin, Texas. – The SWOSU Soccer duo of Erica Brunet and Sandra Nabweteme have earned spots on the Google Cloud Academic All-America list for their performances on the field and in the classroom during the 2018 season. The teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
Brunet, a Special Education major from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, earns her first Academic All-America honor of her career receiving Second Team recognition. She was a staple on the back line for the Bulldogs this season, providing veteran leadership for a defensive effort that held teams to 1.26 goals and 11.9 shots per contest on the season. While helping lead the Bulldogs to a 13-5-1 record and a trip to the Great American Conference championship match, Brunet maintained a 3.97 grade point average in the classroom.
 
Nabweteme, majoring in Engineering Physics garnered her first Academic All-America honors, landing a spot on the third team. The Kampala, Uganda, native was a key part in the Bulldog offensive effort, leading the team with 15 assists while scoring 21 goals to total 57 points this season. While being a leader on the pitch, Nabweteme also showed leadership in the classroom maintaining a 3.68 grade point average.
