#22 Lady Bulldogs Race Past OBU With Big Second Half

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The No. 22-ranked SWOSU Women's Basketball team outscored Oklahoma Baptist 20-4 in the third quarter, overcoming a nine-point halftime deficit and pushing ahead for an 83-71 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
 
The Lady Bulldogs struggled from the field in the first half, knocking down just 13-of-39 (33.3%) field goal attempts and 2-of-14 (14.3%) shots from long range while OBU connected on eight three-pointers and built a 48-39 lead at the break.
 
SWOSU held the Lady Bison to just one field goal in the third quarter and got nine points off turnovers to turn that deficit into a 59-52 lead. The lead would grow to as many as 14 points late in the fourth quarter, before OBU hit a late basket to leave the final margin at 83-71.
 
Despite an off shooting night, Hailey Tucker paced the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Bethany Franks turned in a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds while Tyra Aska added 14 points while Hayden Priddy chipped in 12. SWOSU's fifth starter, Taylor Hedrick, added nine points and Dovile Strimaitye added eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
 
SWOSU ends the first semester of play on a nine-game winning streak, which they will take into an exhibition contest against University of the Southwest on December 29th in Weatherford.
