Prolific-Scoring Effort Earns Tre Evans GAC Player of the Week Award

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU junior guard Tre Evans has been named the Great American Conference Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Adam Dworsky of Southeastern. The weekly honor was announced on Monday by the league office.

Evans helped the Bulldogs to a 1-1 record last week with a 91-85 win at Oklahoma Christian on Thursday night and a narrow defeat to #5-ranked Southern Nazarene on Saturday in Weatherford. He averaged 36.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, shooting 47% (21-of-44) from the field and 40% (6-of-15) from three-point range. Evans also did a bulk of his scoring at the free throw line, where he hit 24-of-29 (82%) attempts.

A junior from Edmond, Evans leads the GAC and ranks fourth nationally with a scoring average of 27.6 points per game on the year. He set a new season-high in scoring during both games this week, first with 32 points at Oklahoma Christian before exploding for 40 – the highest scoring game in the GAC this season – against Southern Nazarene.

This is the first GAC Player of the Week award for Evans while at SWOSU and the first by a Bulldog player since Charles Beauregard, Jr., also hauled in a Co-Player of the Week award on February 19th of last season.

SWOSU Basketball returns to the floor on Saturday, hosting Oklahoma Baptist at 3:00 pm at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
