Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Five

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Soccer team defeated Southern Nazarene 7-1 on Thursday to extend their conference win streak to five consecutive games.
 
The Bulldogs got on the board first with a Memory Phiri goal in the 25th minute to take an early lead over Southern Nazarene. The Crimson Storm answered seconds later, as Kylee Payne found the back of the net to tie the match up. Alimata Rabo broke the tie in the 28th minute giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead into the half.
 
SWOSU would pick up where they left off in the first half, as Sandra Nabweteme netted a goal in the opening seconds of the second half. Hannah Burks found the back of the net for her first goal of the year in the 54th minute and Jasmine Heffley added a goal of her own two minutes later in the 56th minute. Nicole Petrino added to the Bulldogs lead with a header off of a corner kick from Erica Brunet in the 61st minute. Nabweteme sealed the match for SWOSU putting her second goal of the game past the Southern Nazarene goalkeeper as the Bulldogs defeated the Crimson Storm.
 
SWOSU will be back in action Saturday, as they host Oklahoma Baptist at the SWOSU Athletic Complex at 11 am.
