Bulldogs Finish off Southeastern to Earn Collins’ 100th Career Win

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball completed a season sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State with a 3-0 victory on Thursday evening at Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium in Durant. In the process, the Bulldogs earned the 100th career victory for head coach Josh Collins, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the program.

The Bulldogs played from behind in the first set, trailing 23-20 before scoring the final five points of the set to finish it off at 25-23. SWOSU again battled through a close second set, but pulled away in the final few points and put the set away with a kill from Jenny Tackett at 25-21.

SWOSU built a 10-0 lead in the third set on the service of Kaitlyn Dillon, who recorded five aces during that span. From that point, the Bulldogs continued to control the set and put the match away at 25-14 with a kill by Valerie Vermillion.

Elizabeth McVicker led the Dawgs with eight kills while Emily Holm added six in the victory. Allie Hoang had a double-double with 23 assists and 12 digs, which tied with Dillon for team-high honors. SWOSU finished with four blocks in the match, getting two assist blocks from McVicker, Sofia Gruden and Jenny Tackett.

With the victory, SWOSU improves to 17-5 on the year and 10-2 in Great American Conference play with four matches remaining in the regular season. Next up for the Bulldogs is a rematch with Oklahoma Baptist – one of two conference teams to defeat SWOSU – on Saturday at 1:00 pm from the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford.
