SWOSU Struggles Against No. 24/17 Crimson Storm

Box Score (html)

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball fell victim to league-leading Southern Nazarene on Wednesday night, falling to the No. 24/17-ranked Crimson Storm by a final score of 91-49.

The Bulldogs were in a tight defensive battle in the early stages of the game and found themselves tied 10-10 with the Crimson Storm with 10:37 left in the opening half before SNU reeled off an 8-0 run to gain a slight advantage and never looked back.

Trailing 18-10, the Bulldogs cut it to four following a Nick Shoemaker three ball before the under-eight minute media timeout. But out of the huddle, it was SNU who continued to push forward and build their lead to double digits. By the 6:30 mark of the first half, SWOSU trailed by double digits for the first time and three minutes later the deficit was 20.

The second half saw Southern Nazarene again scoring regularly while SWOSU conjured just 26 more points in the game.

SWOSU was held to a season low 23.4% (15-of-64) shooting on the night which included going 2-for-26 (7.7%) from beyond the arc. SNU shot nearly 49% from the field and topped the Bulldogs in almost every statistical category.

Charles Beauregard, Jr., led the way for the Bulldogs and fell just shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.

The Dawgs will look to bounce back on Saturday on the road in Shawnee when they take on Oklahoma Baptist at 3 pm in the final game of SWOSU's busy week.
