WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Hayden Priddy poured in a career-high 33 points on 9-of-14 shooting, knocking down seven three-pointers to help the No. 17/19 Lady Bulldogs take down Northwestern Oklahoma State 95-81 on Monday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
It was a back-and-forth game that featured 11 ties and eight lead changes before the Lady Bulldogs took the lead for good in the middle of the third quarter. SWOSU led early by as many as eight in the first quarter, but the Rangers outscored the Dawgs 27-to-20 in the second quarter and held a 43-42 lead at the break after
Penina Faumui beat the first-half buzzer for a bucket.
The lead would change five times early in the third quarter before SWOSU took the lead for good on a three-pointer from Priddy made it 61-59 and jump started an 8-0 run, putting the Lady Bulldogs up 66-59 with 4:04 to play in the third. SWOSU had a 72-66 advantage at the end of three quarters and pushed their advantage to 10 early in the fourth, leading 79-69 with 8:15 to play.
Northwestern rallied and cut the deficit to three at 81-78 with 5:13 to play, but SWOSU put the game away with a 12-0 run and outscored the Rangers 14-3 over the final five minutes of play.
Hayden Priddy topped her previous career-high of 29 points with a 33-point outing as she played all 40 minutes and also totaled seven assists, two rebounds, two blocks and one steal.
Hailey Tucker was held to less than 20 points for the first time in six games, finishing with 19 points on just eight field goal attempts.
Penina Faumui put together her best offensive effort in a SWOSU uniform, knocking down 7-of-9 field goal attempts for 15 points in just eight minutes of action.
Bethany Franks hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with seven points and three steals.
SWOSU is now 14-1 overall and they remain unblemished in Great American Conference play at 9-0. Next up for the Lady Dawgs is a visit from Southern Nazarene on Wednesday evening, with tipoff set for 5:30 pm in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
