BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The SWOSU Women's Basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Arkansas Tech team in the Great American Conference Tournament semifinals, with the Golden Suns defeating the Lady Dawgs 96-60 and eliminating SWOSU from the event.
Arkansas Tech took a 44-26 lead into halftime then shot 58.3% (14-24) in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. For the game, ATU shot 48.8% (41-84) from the field despite making just 5-of-21 (23.8%) three-point attempts and they dominated on the backboards as well with a 53-to-26 rebounding advantage.
SWOSU was led in scoring by
Tyra Aska, who had 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field while connecting on 7-of-9 free throws.
Hailey Tucker battled foul trouble, going scoreless in the first half but she still managed to score 13 points and finish her sophomore season with 10 or more points in each game.
The Lady Bulldogs conclude the 2016-17 season with a record of 20-10, the second consecutive 20-win season for the program and fourth in eight seasons under the direction of
Kelsi Musick.
