Southern Arkansas 1, SWOSU 0
It was missed opportunities for the Bulldogs that was the theme of game one, as they were shutout in Saturday's opening game despite having eight baserunners throughout the game including multiple times with runners in scoring position with less than two outs. SWOSU was only able to collect two hits in the game, one from
Taya Haney and the other from
Miranda McDonald – both singles.
Haney got off to a shaky start in the circle, but after loading the bases with one out pitched her way out of the jam to only concede one run in the first inning. That run would be all the Muleriders would get the rest of the way, as Haney would hold the conference's top hitting team to just four hits while striking out eight Muleriders in the process. The tough luck loss moves her record to 3-5 on the season.
