MAGNOLIA, Ark. – SWOSU Baseball went winless against No. 20 Southern Arkansas on Friday, dropping game one 4-2 and game two 6-3. The Muleriders hit two solo homeruns in the first game and hit a solo and a two-run homerun in the nightcap that ended up being the difference maker in both games.

The final game of the series will be a single nine-inning game that will begin at 1:00 pm tomorrow as the Dawgs will look to escape the sweep and end the weekend with a win.

Game One
Box Score (html)
Southern Arkansas 4, SWOSU 2

The Bulldogs found themselves leading 1-0 and 2-1 during the game but surrendered the lead for good in the sixth inning when two critical errors allowed a pair of unearned Mulerider runs to cross home. Trailing 3-2, SWOSU surrendered a solo-home run in the following inning that concluded the game's scoring.

Starting pitcher Brendan Peitsmeyer went 5.1 innings on the bump, striking out three and walking none but allowed three SAU runs to score despite only one of those being earned. He was charged with the loss and drops to 3-3 on the season. Jeremy Smith came in for relief to throw the final 2.2 innings, striking out two and only allowed the solo shot as his only run given up.

Danny-David Linahan and Jason Nichols delivered the RBI hits in the game and were responsible for three for SWOSU's six hits in the contest.

Game Two
Box Score (html)
Southern Arkansas 6, SWOSU 3

After spotting SAU three runs through the first two innings, the Bulldogs scored three runs in their half of the second courtesy of an RBI single from Jason Nichols and a two-out double that scored a pair of runs off the bat of Rogelio Sanchez.

In the fourth inning, the long ball doomed SWOSU as the Muleriders lead off the inning with a solo shot and proceeded to also score two more runs with another home run in the inning. Trailing 6-3, the Bulldogs had an opportunity in the fifth to chip away but with two out and two on, Justin Freeman popped up to the first basemen to end the threat. The offense would go cold the final two innings and the Dawgs would go on to drop game two.

Ruben Rodriguez, Joshua Santos and Jason Nichols all had two hits in the second game to lead the way for the Bulldog bats. Devin Ring was charged with the loss, falling to 1-3 on the season. Garret Gaunt came in and allowed a solo home run in his .1 innings and both Skyler Martin and Vincent Berrones threw an inning a piece to hold SAU scoreless through the final two innings.
