WEATHERFORD, Okla. – It took 12 innings to decide, but SWOSU Baseball fell to Oklahoma City 4-3 on Tuesday in a midweek non-conference game. Despite the loss, the Bulldog pitching staff managed to piece together a quality game as nine different arms made appearances on the bump.
It was the Dawgs who got on the board first in the third inning when they were able to take advantage of a Star throwing error to score an unearned run with two outs. SWOSU would scratch across another run in the fourth after a lead-off single came around to score later in the inning courtesy of a sacrifice fly.
Oklahoma City got both of their runs in their half of the fourth inning by taking of advantage of a two-out walk, following it up with a double and then single to score two runs and take a short lead before the Bulldogs would answer in the bottom half.
The score would remain tied the rest of the way until the 12th inning when the Star's nine hole hit a two-run homerun to allow OCU to regain the lead at 4-2. SWOSU tried to rally in the final half inning but fell short, after scoring one run and cut the margin to one and stranding a runner on second base to end the game.
Justin Schander was charged with the loss after conceding the twelfth-inning bomb, falling to 0-2 on the season.
Ruben Rodriguez was the only Bulldog hitter to tally a multi-hit game, while
