Offensive Woes in Bethany Halt Lady Dawgs Win Streak

Box Score (html)

BETHANY, Okla. – SWOSU shot 32% from the field and scored 67 points as the Lady Bulldogs fell to SNU 81-67 on Thursday night, snapping their four-game winning streak. Both the shooting percentage and point total for SWOSU marked the second worst performance in each respective category this season.

The Lady Bulldogs dug themselves a first-half hole in the second quarter when they were outscored 24-15, giving them an 11-point deficit heading into the locker room. Whitney Dunn and Hailey Tucker each put up nine points in the opening half, but the help dropped off significantly after that as the next highest scorer for the Dawgs had three.

The third quarter was the downfall for SWOSU, allowing the Crimson Storm to open up out of the locker room on a 9-0 run to jump out to a 20-point lead. When the third quarter ended, SWOSU trailed by 26 after only scoring nine points in the quarter. SWOSU would improve its shooting in the fourth quarter by shooting 59% from the field, but the previous deficit was too much for the Dawgs to overcome. Tucker ended with a team-high 15, followed by Tyra Aska with 11 and Hayden Priddy's 10.

SWOSU (14-7, 10-5 GAC) will play East Central at home on Saturday to conclude the week of GAC action. The following week will be a busy one as the Dawgs will play three league games starting on Monday against rival Northwestern before playing host to Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday and then hitting the road to take on Southeastern to conclude the week on Saturday.
