DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State went on a 7-0 run to close out the first half, building a 12-point lead at the intermission and the Savage Storm raced away in the second half for an 86-59 victory on Saturday afternoon at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
SWOSU got a career-high 16 points from
Geoffery Hightower, who was 5-of-9 from the field with all of his field goal attempts coming from long range. Hightower also added five rebounds, two assists and one steal while playing 27 minutes for the Dawgs.
Nick Shoemaker came off the bench to hit four three-pointers for 12 points while
Markeise Champion reached double figures again with 10 points on 4-for-14 shooting from the field and added seven rebounds and four assists. Nine other players saw action for the Bulldogs and combined for just 21 points.
Southeastern Oklahoma State shot 46.8% (29-62) from the field and hit 10 three-point attempts while also having a large edge at the free throw line, where they hit 18-of-22 (81.8%) attempts. The Savage Storm pounded the glass as well, finishing with a rebounding edge of 50-to-30 including 13 offensive boards.
SWOSU (6-19, 3-16 GAC) plays their final three games of the year at home, starting Monday when they host Southern Nazarene.
