Bulldogs Close out 2017 with Victory over Randall

Box Score (html)

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Collin Jennings posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in his first game action of the season, leading the Bulldog Men's Basketball team to a 90-76 victory over Randall on Saturday afternoon inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.

Jennings, who missed the first nine games of the year due to injury, returned to the lineup and brought with him a spark that led SWOSU to a season-high 90 points on 51.7% (30-58) shooting from the field, a mark that was made even better with the Bulldogs hitting 11-of-20 (55.0%) three-point attempts in the game.

Six different players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, led by Nick Shoemaker with 18 points – all via three-point field goals – with five of those coming after halftime. Devin Pugh added 16 points while Charles Beauregard, Jr. and Daniel Eibel had 11 each and Justin King posted 10 points and four rebounds. Ball movement helped the Bulldogs offensively as they tied a season-high with 16 assists on 30 made baskets, getting four apiece from King and Pugh to lead the way.

At the defensive end, SWOSU held Randall to 35.8% field goal shooting for the game and outrebounded the Saints 39-to-32.

The win also marked the first head coaching victory for SWOSU's Interim Head Coach Kris Johnson.

"Our guys have really stayed together and handled adversity well the past few weeks and it paid off today with a great team win," Johnson said after the game. "It's great to have Collin back, he does a lot of things that don't show up in the box score and I think his energy at both ends of the court really provided a spark for us today. We have to take things one game at a time and now get ready to resume conference play."

SWOSU improves to 3-7 with the victory and they return to action next weekend with a pair of Great American Conference games against Arkansas-Monticello (Jan. 4) and Southern Arkansas (Jan. 6) inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
