Alimata Rabo & Sandra Nabweteme Receive USC All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two SWOSU Soccer sophomores have been named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Central Region Teams that were released Tuesday afternoon. Alimata Rabo received first team honors while Sandra Nabweteme was named to the second team.

Rabo, a First Team All-USC selection, improves her status after being named to the second team a year ago. The sophomore from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso previously picked up her second consecutive D2CCA Central Region and GAC Offensive Player of the Year honors following the 2017 regular season. Rabo ended the 2017 season tied for the NCAA Division II lead in goals scored with 28, but was finally passed by Grand Valley State's Gabriella Mencotti who played an extra game in the NCAA Tournament. Rabo now has scored a record breaking 50 goals for the Bulldogs in two years, while also assisting on 21 other goals.

Nabweteme, a Second Team All-USC selection, also improves her status after picking up third team recognition as a freshman. The sophomore from Kampala, Uganda has already been named a Second Team D2CCA All-Region selection in 2017, while also earning First Team All-GAC honors for the second consecutive season. Nabweteme netted 13 goals for SWOSU this year, finishing ranked second on the team behind Rabo and tied for third in the GAC. She also assisted on four other goals, slating her second on the team in that category as well.

SWOSU ended its historic 2017 season 13-4-5 after falling to nationally No. 1-ranked Central Missouri in the Central Region Championship match, three rounds into the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs were crowned GAC Tournament Champions after claiming wins over Harding and Oklahoma Baptist in the conference tournament, and advanced past Missouri Western and Minnesota State in the NCAA bracket before finally having their playoff run cut down by the Jennies.

Both Rabo and Nabweteme will return to the field for the Bulldogs in 2018 as upperclassmen, entering their junior years of competition.
