WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU was outscored 57-42 in the second half as Rogers State left the Pioneer Cellular Event Center with a 97-77 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday evening.
SWOSU led the game at four different points in the first half, the last at 30-28 after a three-pointer by
Charles Beauregard, Jr. put the Bulldogs up with 3:12 to play before halftime. From that point on, Rogers State finished the half on a 12-5 run and took a lead of 40-35 to the break.
An 8-0 run early in the second half pushed the Hillcats lead to 11, 51-40 with 15:33 to play but SWOSU put forth a run of their own, including back-to-back three-pointers from Beauregard along with an acrobatic block by
Devin Pugh that led to a breakaway layup and got SWOSU within three, 58-55, with 11:57 to play.
Rogers State put forth runs of 10-0 and 11-0 in the game's final 10 minutes to pull away for the victory, which gave SWOSU their fourth straight setback after a victory in the season opener.
SWOSU got a team-high 24 points from Beauregard, who hit 7-of-13 field goals including three three-pointers. Pugh added 12 points while
Justin King chipped in 11 points and three rebounds off the bench.
The setback drops SWOSU to 1-4 on the year heading into a non-conference road game at Cameron on Saturday in Lawton.
