Setting the Scene:
- SWOSU Soccer (6-3-2, 3-1-2 GAC) begins the second round of GAC action, taking on all teams in the conference again at opposite venues
- The Dawgs currently hold a three-game unbeaten streak, with a tie against Oklahoma Baptist and two wins over Ouachita and Southern Nazarene in that span
- Tuesday, October 10 the Bulldogs travel to rival Northwestern for a 6 pm match, looking to sweep the regular season series over the Rangers
- Saturday, SWOSU returns home to host East Central at 11 am out at the Athletic Complex
The Coaches:
SWOSU: Mark Persson (86-63-17; 9th season)
- Since taking over the program in 2009, Persson has amassed a 85-63-16 record, becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history
- Persson has now led the Bulldogs to three regular season Great American Conference crowns and two GAC Tournament championships in the last five years
- A two time All-Conference Coach of the Year, Persson holds a 46-27-7 record in GAC play
- He has coached three All-Americans, 16 All-Region players, and numerous All-Conference players during his time in Weatherford
NWOSU: Craig Liddell (6-40-3; 3rd season)
- Liddell coached Enid High School for 15 seasons prior to collegiate coaching
- Coach Liddell was a two-time All-Golden State Athletic Conference selection playing at California Baptist
- He also has his USSF, National "A", and National "Youth" Licenses
ECU: Riley Bailey (51-86-16; 9th season)
- Coach Bailey led the Tigers to Great American Conference regular season and postseason tournament championships in 2011 and to the GAC semifinals in 2012.
- Prior to his head coaching duties at ECU, Bailey spent eight seasons as the Tigers assistant coach, 1998-2000 and 2004-08
- He also coached one All-American player, several all-conference players and numerous academic all-conference award winners
The Opponents
Northwestern (3-8-1, 2-4 GAC)
- After starting the year 0-7-1, the Rangers have got things going recently with wins in three out of their last four contests which includes a victory over Harding
- Karla Lopez and Yazmin Gomez are leading the attack for NWOSU, both with four goals on the season and one assist each
- Northwestern is susceptible to allowing goals, averaging a league worst 2.96 goals per match
East Central (5-4-2, 2-1-2 GAC)
- ECU on the contrary does not give up goals easily, having conceded just nine goals in 11 contests to lead the GAC in that category
- The Tigers tied SWOSU the last time the teams met, a 0-0 stalemate through two overtimes
- Chloe Hull has collected 45 saves guarding the net for East Central, having faced 171 total shots
Bulldog Facts
- SWOSU went 1-0-1 last week, tying OBU 3-3 before ending the week with the fourth shutout of the season against Southern Nazarene by a score of 3-0

Ashlyn Collier netted her first goal of the season against the Lady Bison, making it now 13 different players who have scored a goal this season for the SWOSU attack
