SHAWNEE, Okla. – Bulldog Volleyball came up short in their attempt to earn a season-sweep of Oklahoma Baptist, falling in straight sets to the Bison on Tuesday evening at the Noble Complex in Shawnee.
OBU won the match by set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-21. The Bison led wire-to-wire in the first and second sets but SWOSU got going in the third set and had a pair of leads in the early going before OBU regained control.
SWOSU was held to a .128 hitting percentage, committing 18 attack errors with 34 kills while OBU had 46 kills against 17 errors for a .254 hitting clip. The biggest advantage for the Bison came on defense with a 60-46 lead in the digs department.
Five different players recorded a kill for the Dawgs, led by
DeLayni Fine with 10 and Danusia Sipa Borgeaud with nine.
Kodee Avery was one dig shy of a double-double with 20 assists and nine digs while
Kaitlyn Dillon led SWOSU with 15 digs.
Addie Aman posted a team-best four blocks (one solo, three assist) and
Lindsey McCauley recorded SWOSU's lone service ace.
With the defeat, SWOSU falls to 11-18 on the year and 6-7 in Great American Conference play with three league matches remaining. The Bulldogs are back at home on Thursday, but playing in Rankin Williams Fieldhouse to host East Central at 7:00 pm.
