WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball had 53 kills in a three-set sweep of Henderson State on Saturday, picking up the win by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 to move back above .500 in Great American Conference play.
The Bulldogs hit .275 or better in each of the three sets, committing no more than six hitting errors in one individual set. For the match, SWOSU Finished with 53 kills against 11 hitting errors which was good for a .307 hitting percentage for the match.
Leading the way for SWOSU was
DeLayni Fine with 14 kills and
Danusia Sipa Borgeaud with 13. Additionally,
Sofia Gruden had nine kills while freshmen
Allie Hoang and
Allison Russell combined for 13 without committing a hitting error.
Hoang – making her second consecutive start at setter – finished with a double-double of 40 assists and 12 digs to go along with her five kills.
Kaitlyn Dillon led the way for SWOSU with 20 digs while
DeLayni Fine and
Klemson Lancaster had 10 digs apiece.
"This is a big bounce-back win for us," SWOSU Head Coach
Josh Collins said after the match. "We were kind of concerned about our energy coming off a tough, four-set match last night but we came in and took care of business today. I applaud our players for coming ready to play and ready to prove something today."
SWOSU Volleyball improves to 11-16 on the year and they move back above .500 at 6-5 in Great American Conference action. The Bulldogs conclude a four-match home stand on Thursday evening against Southeastern Oklahoma State, with first serve set for 7:00 pm at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford.
