WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball dropped two close sets in extra points on Friday night and fell to Ouachita Baptist 3-1. The Bulldogs did have a pair of standout performances in the process, as
Kaitlyn Dillon and
Allie Hoang made marks on the record books for a four-set match.
Ouachita controlled the opening set 25-17, leading it wire-to-wire to grab the early match lead. In the second set, SWOSU battled multiple set points off and also applied their own pressure to the Tigers with set points in favor of themselves, but ultimately came up short 29-27 and fell behind 2-0.
In the third set, the Dawgs hit a match-best .267 and controlled the pace for much of the way to breathe life and gain momentum heading into the fourth set.
Trailing by as many as nine in the fourth, SWOSU stormed back to tie the match at 25-25. From there, both teams traded blows with neither side folding. Leads went back and forth, but OUA got the final punch and finally scored two in a row to take the marathon set 34-32 and the match 3-1.
SWOSU topped Ouachita in kills, assists, digs, and service aces on the night, but was outblocked at the net 13-to-5.
Dillon's 39 digs she ended with through four sets marks the most of any Bulldog ever in a four set match. Hoang tallied 53 total assists, putting her third on the all-time assist list in a four-set match.
Addie Aman had a career offensive night, collecting 18 kills with an efficient .382 hitting percentage while also adding three digs and two blocks.
Danusia Sipa Borgeaud led SWOSU in the kills category with 19, finishing one kill shy of her own career high.
The Bulldogs (10-16, 5-5 GAC) will have a quick turnaround and is set to host Henderson State tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm on another conference match.
