WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball was swept in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Harding to conclude their weekend of action.
The Dawgs were slow coming out of the gate in the first two sets, getting outscored 50-31 through both frames. After the Bisons ran away with the first set, SWOSU was battling in the second tied at 16-16 but Harding would go on to score nine of the final 10 points in the frame to take a 2-0 match advantage.
In the third, and what would be final set, the Bulldogs started hot by scoring five-straight out of the huddle. Harding called timeout to regain composure, and eliminated their deficit by the 8-8 mark. The Bisons built a lead of themselves after scoring six the next seven points, leading 15-9.
SWOSU tried to claw their way back into the match and avoid the sweep, getting back within three at 20-17, but Harding would answer and go on to take the set and sweep the Dawgs.
DeLayni Fine led the offense with 14 kills, hitting .333 for the match.
Kodee Avery assisted on 28 points at setter while
Kaitlyn Dillon posted a team-best 25 digs on defense.
The loss pushes SWOSU's record to 9-15 overall and 5-4 in GAC play.
The Bulldogs will now return home and begin their four-game homestand which includes three games next week. SWOSU hosts USAO on Monday in non-conference action and will conclude the week with GAC matches against Ouachita and Henderson on Friday and Saturday.
