Tucker Takes Over to Lead Lady Dawgs Past Southeastern

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Hailey Tucker scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Lady Bulldogs overcome an eight-point deficit early in the period and defeat Southeastern 87-79 inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
 
Hayden Priddy got things going for SWOSU with 19 first-half points to help the Lady Dawgs to a 41-28 lead at the break after a low-scoring first quarter. Southeastern used an eight-point edge in the third quarter to take 65-59 lead heading into the fourth quarter and the Savage Storm would push that lead to eight at 71-63 with 7:15 to play.
 
Over the final 7:03, SWOSU outscored Southeastern 24-8 behind Tucker, who had struggled for most of the evening but came up big when her team needed it most. She hit her first three-pointer of the game with 6:13 to play and then added another triple on the next possession to make it a one-point game at 72-71. Taylor Hedrick scored on a driving layup the next possession to give SWOSU their first lead since late in the third and Tucker added another lay-in of her own to push the lead to three, 75-72, with 3:48 to play.
 
Southeastern closed to within two at 79-77 with 2:06 to play, but the Lady Bulldogs closed strong, using a an 8-0 run to push the lead to 10 in the closing seconds on a three-pointer from Tyra Aska.
 
Hayden Priddy led the way for SWOSU with 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range, and she added five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Hailey Tucker finished the game with 20 points and nine rebounds while also totaling three assists, three blocks and a steal. Tyra Aska battled foul trouble to score 16 points with three rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes of action and Whitney Dunn was one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.
 
"It was great to get back home and play in front of our home crowd, it feels like it's been forever since we've been at home and I thought the fans were amazing tonight," SWOSU Head Coach Kelsi Musick said. "A lot of credit tonight goes to our sophomores, Hayden Priddy really got us going in the first half and Hailey Tucker came up big for us in the fourth quarter."
 
SWOSU (10-5, 6-3 GAC) remains unbeaten at home this season, but they are back on the road on Saturday to face Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee.
