Struggles Continue as Softball Falls at Southern Arkansas


MAGNOLIA, Ark. – SWOSU Softball was limited to one run and six hits on Saturday as they dropped a pair of games against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia. The Bulldogs are now 4-18 (2-10 GAC) on the year, with a series at home with Arkansas-Monticello coming up next weekend.

SWOSU had just two hits in the opener and left three runners on base as SAU took the first game by run-rule. Abigail Schade had both hits for the Dawgs while Miranda McDonald was SWOSU's only other baserunner, reaching by walk in the first inning.
 
Larie Amos (1-3) and Rileigh Ricken combined to allow five hits and eight runs over four innings.

It was McDonald who went 2-for-3 at the plate in game two and Tori Hawk turned a leadoff walk into SWOSU's only run on a squeeze play off the bat of Taya Haney in the top of the first inning. SAU answered with a run in the bottom of the first and scored six in the bottom of the sixth to break the game open.
 
Haney (2-6) tossed 5.1 innings before Taylor Eaves closed out the game in the circle.
