Baseball Splits With Southern Arkansas on Friday


WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Bulldog Baseball opened their three-games series against preseason GAC favorite Southern Arkansas on Friday afternoon, earning a split against the Muleriders in Weatherford. The teams will play the rubber match of the series on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Jon Chidester threw his first complete-game of the year, improving to 4-1 after allowing six hits and two runs while striking out Muleriders as SWOSU won the opener in a rout. The Bulldogs scored in six of eight innings, pounding out 14 hits and taking advantage of three errors from SAU.
 
Korbin Polston led the charge offensively with a 4-for-5 performance at the dish with two RBI and four runs scored. Joshua Santos went 3-for-5 and scored twice while Zach Barton and Trent Troxell both had two hits apiece.

SAU scored seven runs in the fourth inning to break the second game open and held on for a 10-5 victory in the nightcap. The Muleriders had 16 hits in the game and converted four SWOSU errors into three unearned runs.
 
Zach Barton was 2-for-3 for SWOSU while Korbin Polston had two RBI as SWOSU had nine hits in the effort. Devin Ring (2-3) took the loss after allowing five hits and four runs in 3.1 innings of work.
