WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU needed to come from behind in both games, but the Bulldogs pulled off the feat and defeated the rival Rangers of Northwestern twice on Tuesday in front of a packed crowd at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
The Bulldogs improve to 13-23 on the year and 11-15 in GAC play heading into a four-game series at Henderson State this weekend.
SWOSU 3, Northwestern Oklahoma State 2Box Score Taya Haney came through with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to give the Bulldogs a come-from-behind victory in Tuesday's opener. SWOSU led 1-0 after an inning on an RBI single from
Miranda West, but Northwestern took the lead with a two-run home run in the fourth inning and held the lead until the sixth.
SWOSU had just four hits in the game, but also drew four walks and left 10 runners on base in the game. Haney started and went 3.1 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs before
Taylor Eaves came in and worked out of a jam in the fourth. Eaves (3-6) shut down the Rangers the final 3.2 innings, giving up just two hits and earning the win.

Tori Hawk and
Taya Haney to complete their comeback from a 4-0 deficit and walk off for the doubleheader sweep. Hawk sent a deep fly over the left field fence to tie the game and, two batters later, Haney slammed her team-leading sixth home run of the season off the scoreboard in dead center to end it.
The Rangers got an unearned run in the first inning and hit two home runs in the second to build a 4-0 lead on SWOSU in the early going. The Dawgs started their comeback in the bottom of the second as
Samantha Householder singled up the middle to bring
Alex Wilson in to score.
Ashley Jones came through with a pinch hit single in the fourth, scoring
Samantha Perry to make it 4-2 but the Dawgs would leave the bases loaded to end the frame and add a single run in the sixth inning to get within one run.
Three different pitchers saw action for the Bulldogs in the game, but it was Eaves (4-6) who earned the victory after holding Northwestern scoreless in the final two innings with just two hits.
