Road Dawgs Earn Split at Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – After rallying to force extra innings in the opener, SWOSU controlled the series finale against Oklahoma Baptist to split the doubleheader and the series against the Lady Bison in Shawnee.

Oklahoma Baptist 6, SWOSU 5 (9 inn.)
Box Score

Taya Haney hit a three-run home run to center in the top of the seventh inning, erasing a 4-0 deficit and tying the game at 4-4 to force extra innings. In the eighth inning, SWOSU took the lead briefly by capitalizing on an OBU error, but a Bulldog error in the bottom of the frame allowed the Lady Bison to tie the game back up at 5-5 and force another extra inning.

SWOSU got one baserunner in the top of the ninth but they were unable to push one across, leaving the door open for the Lady Bisons, who got a two-out single to score the game-winning run in walkoff fashion. Larie Amos (1-4) took the loss after allowing four hits and two runs in the final 2.2 innings.

SWOSU 5, Oklahoma Baptist 2
Box Score

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back as they won the series finale to split the series. Miranda West hit a two-run triple in the first while two other SWOSU runs scored on errors as the Dawgs put four runs on the board, needing just two hits, before OBU even got an at-bat.

Oklahoma Baptist got all of their scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-run home run off Haney that briefly cut the lead to 4-2. SWOSU added an insurance run in the sixth inning as Shannon Driggers scored on a passed ball, which was crucial as OBU loaded the bases and got two runs home in the bottom of the seventh before the Dawgs recorded the final out.

Haney (5-9) nearly tossed her seventh complete game of the season and earned the win after limiting OBU to two runs on six hits in 6.1 innings before Taylor Eaves came to get the final two outs of the game.
