WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Softball ran their win streak to four games by defeating Southern Nazarene in the opener on Sunday, but that streak was snapped by the Crimson Storm in the series finale. The Bulldogs win the series 3-1 and improve to 9-21 (7-13 GAC) on the year.
SWOSU goes on the road to face Oklahoma Baptist next weekend, with games being played on Thursday and Friday.
SWOSU 4, Southern Nazarene 1Box Score The Bulldogs got four of their seven hits and all four of their runs across in the third inning, giving them enough cushion to hold off SNU in game three of the series. With two outs in the third,
Abigail Schade got a bunt single and
Miranda West walked, setting up
Taya Haney for an RBI single.
Alex Wilson stepped in next and hit an RBI single before
Tori Hawk came through with a two-run double down the left field line to make it 4-0.
Southern Nazarene got an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning, but
Larie Amos took the circle in relief of
Rileigh Ricken to end the inning and she allowed the Crimson Storm to get just three base runners the rest of the game. Ricken (1-0) got the win while Amos picked up her first save of the season.
Southern Nazarene 6, SWOSU 5Box Score The script was flipped in game two as SNU scored all six of their runs in the second inning and held on as the Bulldogs made their rally. SWOSU plated two runs in the second and one each in the final three innings while stranding eight runners on base, including two in scoring position as the game ended.
Kenedi Jackson,
Miranda West and
Tori Hawk each had two hits apiece while
Samantha Perry had one hit and two RBI from the ninth spot in the lineup as SWOSU doubled up SNU in hits.
Taya Haney (3-8) took the loss after allowing all six runs in just 1.1 innings of work before
Taylor Eaves came in and allowed just one hit over the final 5.2 innings.
