CANYON, Texas – The SWOSU Baseball team suffered setbacks on Saturday and Sunday against Colorado Mines and West Texas A&M, respectively, to come out of the first weekend of the season with a 1-2 record. The Bulldogs defeated No. 11 St. Edward's 3-2 on Friday.
Colorado Mines 13, SWOSU 1 (7 inn.)Box Score Colorado Mines build a two-run lead after three innings, hit a grand slam in the fifth and finished the game off with a seven-run seventh inning as they run-ruled the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. Eight of Mines' 13 runs were unearned as they were aided by two SWOSU errors.

Joshua Santos and
Zach Barton each had two hits apiece, while the Bulldogs lone run was scored on an RBI single from
Korbin Polston in the sixth inning.
Gunnar Cook (0-1) took the loss after allowing eight hits and five runs in 4.0 innings of work.
West Texas A&M 4, SWOSU 3Box Score SWOSU allowed just two hits during their weekend finale against tournament-host West Texas A&M, but both came during the seventh inning, with the last one a grand slam by the Buffs Jace Reese that gave WT a 4-2 lead. Reese was the first batter that SWOSU's

The Bulldogs had a chance to answer in the eighth inning with runners on first and second with one out. Barton singled through the right side to score
Tanner Dearman from third, but pinch hitter
Joel Baxley struck out to end the inning with two runners on. SWOSU stranded five runners on base for the day.
Barton had a 3-for-4 day with two RBI, while Dearman scored twice and
Justin Freeman and
CJ Faddis also had hits. Ring (0-1) took the loss despite allowing just one hit in 6.2 innings of work.
SWOSU Baseball returns to action on Tuesday, facing Central Oklahoma in Edmond at 1:00 pm.
