Softball Hangs Close, But Can’t Top Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Softball played a very close series against Southeastern Oklahoma State over the weekend, but they left winless after the Savage Storm added two victories on Saturday. The Bulldogs are now 4-14 (2-6 GAC) with a four-game series at Southern Arkansas looming next weekend.

Southeastern 5, SWOSU 2
Box Score

Taya Haney had two hits in the game, including a solo home run fourth inning, but Southeastern scored three runs in the fourth inning and held off SWOSU for the 5-2 victory. The Dawgs loaded the bases in the fifth and scored one on an infield single by Tori Hawk, but they left two runners on base in that inning and six for the game.

Taylor Eaves (0-5) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits and five runs with one strike out and she was credited with the loss. Larie Amos allowed three hits but kept the Storm from scoring in the final 2.1 innings.

Box Score

Haney was in the circle for Game 2 and she helped her cause with an RBI single in the first inning that scored Hawk, who opened the game with a double. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, that would be their lone offensive run in the game, which saw them pound out eight hits but also leave eight runners on base. Hawk, Samantha Householder and Kennedi Jackson had two hits apiece for SWOSU.

Haney (2-4) tossed a complete game, allowing five runs on six hits with five walks and she took the loss.
