KINGSVILLE, Texas – SWOSU Softball went 0-2 on Saturday, dropping to close contests to finish 1-4 for the weekend at the Emerald Beach Hotel Softball Invitational in Kingsville. The Bulldogs, now 2-8, on the year open GAC play next weekend by hosting East Central.
Texas A&M-International 5, SWOSU 3Box Score SWOSU scored the first two runs and went to the seventh inning tied 3-3, but International scored two runs on three hits in the top of the seventh to earn the victory.
Taya Haney had two hits and one RBI for SWOSU, who's other two runs were unearned, but she also took the loss in the circle after allowing nine hits and five earned runs in 6.0 innings of work.
St. Edward's 4, SWOSU 3Box Score Trailing 4-1 heading into the seventh, SWOSU got two runs in the top of the final frame and left the potential game-tying stranded on second base as the game ended.
Alex Wilson had a 3-for-3 game at the plate, while
Miranda West had one hit and two RBI and
Cheyenne Trotter accounted for the other run.
Kaley Reding (0-2) took the loss, tossing 6.0 innings with six hits and four runs – three earned – given up.
