KINGSVILLE, Texas – Four SWOSU errors led to nine unearned runs as the Bulldogs dropped their Friday contest at the Emerald Beach Hotel Kingsville Invitational by a score of 13-3 to Texas A&M-Commerce in six innings.
Tori Hawk tied the game at 1-1 with a leadoff home run to center in the bottom of the first before the Bulldogs left the bases loaded in the bottom of the second. The third inning is where it all went south for SWOSU as they allowed nine runs on six hits with four errors for a 10-1 lead. The Bulldogs loaded the bases and got two runs as
Samantha Householder was hit by a pitch and Hawk drew a walk to make it 10-3 after three innings.
No scoring occurred in the fourth and fifth innings, but Commerce scored three runs on three hits to give them enough of a cushion to end the game by run-rule.
Larie Amos (0-1) was credited with the loss after allowing eight runs on three hits, but only one earned run in 2.2 innings. Hawk was 1-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Dawgs, who also got a 2-for-4 hitting effort from
Miranda McDonald.
SWOSU (2-6) plays their final two games in Kingsville on Saturday, facing Texas A&M-International at 8:00 am and St. Edward's at 10:30 am.
